Crothall Employee Saves Choking Patient

Crothall Housekeeper Jana Braswell of Lourdes Medical Center, Paducah, KY, was re-entering room 617 and acknowledged the patient to let her know that she was back.  When Jana looked at the patient, the woman was pounding her chest, choking, and turning blue in the face.

Jana dropped her mop without hesitation and performed the Heimlich maneuver on the patient. The food dislodged, and Jana helped the patient clear her airway. She then called for a nurse.

Upon regaining her composure, the patient (and her family) thanked Jana with a hug and bought her lunch. Jana stated she just did what anyone else would have and that she was thankful she was in the right place at the right time.
