Deaconess Hospital Wins Acclaim

EVS and Facilities Management Teams Earn Coveted Krackenhaus Award at Deaconess Hospital.

Deaconess Hospital in Cincinnati, OH, awards the “Krackenhaus” Trophy to teams that exhibit exceptional teamwork and performance in their organization.  COO Dave Ferrell announced in his 10/22/07 weekly newsletter that the trophy would next be shared by 3 teams, IT, Facilities, and Environmental Services, for their joint efforts responding to an emergency.

“These 3 teams won the ’Krackenhaus Trophy’…in recognition of the outstanding teamwork demonstrated when we flooded B-Level with water from the kitchen above, on September 7, 2007,” Dave Ferrell announced.  “This was an after-hours event, and staff from each of these three areas responded promptly and eagerly to the call, and worked cooperatively and diligently to resolve the problem and restore order to the areas affected!”

The award’s name hails from an earlier incarnation of Deaconess Hospital, circa 1880, when it was known as the “Krackenhaus” and located on Liberty Street in Cincinnati, OH. The trophy takes the shape of a plaque with a picture of the first hospital and its “first ‘caring experts’” – the Deaconess Sisters. It is in their honor that the award will circulate throughout the hospital, residing with the celebrated team.

Congratulations to Director of EVS Robert Johnson, Director of Facilities Josh Quinn, and their teams for winning this distinction at their facility!
