Crothall Momentum

Environmental Services–

Celebrating Housekeeping Week

The front-line associates who work hard every day to keep our client hospitals clean and patients happy are truly the heart of what makes our company a success. Each year, for one week, we make an effort to express to them our gratitude and let them know how important they are to what we accomplish. National Housekeeping Week took place September 9-15 in all of our EVS accounts throughout the country. Our teams came up with many creative and fun ways to honor the work of their associates. Laundry & Linen–

Embarking on Microfiber Mop Study

Crothall Laundry Services has recently initiated a study to evaluate the effectiveness of microfiber mops after laundering. Performance textiles, such as microfiber mops, are a new paradigm for the textile industry, but they represent one of its fastest growing sectors. Observations and testing have revealed that microfiber mops are losing their effectiveness after being laundered, rendering the mop essentially useless. The interaction of cleaning chemicals from the microfiber mop with the chemicals utilized during the laundering process is being closely examined to both understand and find a solution to this widespread problem.

Patient Transportation–

Key to Patient Satisfaction

Increasingly, hospitals are taking a comprehensive approach to patient satisfaction. Transporters are being valued not only for their escort role and how they impact patient flow, but also as hospital ambassadors. Crothall has implemented various service programs such as greeters, information desk specialists, valet parking specialists, couriers, and shuttle drivers. These services provide a higher level of hospitality and expedite patient flow from the moment the driver pulls up to the hospital's driveway to the time the patient is escorted out after discharge. By managing all of these patient access and transition points, the patient receives better service while the hospital experiences faster turnaround times.

Facilities Management–

Major Updates to TeamOps Software

Over the last several months, there has been great momentum in the development of Crothall's proprietary CMMS program, TeamOps. The software has undergone two successful updates, with a third scheduled for January. The development process takes into account Unit Manager input gained through focus groups organized by Ian Warcola from the Information Services department. These sessions will help identify future development items and enhancements to the program that will benefit our clients as well as increase our compliance with regulatory reporting requirements. The current round of updates represents a major leap forward for the software, positioning the Facilities Management division well for future growth.

Clinical Equipment Services–

Critical Component of Environment of Care

Crothall CES is a vital part of the preparation for Joint Commission with respect to the Medical Equipment Management Plan, one of seven elements of the Environment of Care. This plan must address the various aspects of servicing medical equipment: ensure equipment is used properly, maintain equipment to maximize safety, ensure technicians have documented training and certifications, test and measure the functioning of equipment to verify it is compliant, and provide recommendations for equipment improvement and upgrades when necessary. It must also document emergency procedures, ensuring that spare equipment or other measures are available to maintain the function of life supporting devices. Crothall follows thorough standards to ensure that the plan meets the needs of each client hospital.

Business & Industry–

Contamination Control Cleaning Services

MicroComplete, a division of Crothall B&I, provides cleanroom contamination services to hospital pharmacies in compliance with USP 797. The MicroComplete team assists with writing the required cleanroom standard operating procedures (SOPs) specific to each pharmacy. The team also implements appropriate cleaning frequencies for the facility and equipment using industry-approved disinfectants, as specified in the regulation. We provide cleanroom training to the pharmacy staff on proper gowning technique and personnel flow within the classified compounding suites. MicroComplete is led by Lawyna Holland and currently provides services to four pharmacies and several FDA-regulated facilities on the east coast. We can customize a cleaning program that is appropriate for your facility.

Crothall Cares

Granting Wishes

The Garrett Williamson Foundation provides quality educational and recreational programs for financially challenged children. Crothall made a contribution for "donor bricks" toward the completion of a new pavilion which will give shade and protection to the campers who attend Camp Garrett. Fundraising provides scholarships to children from Philadelphia to attend the camp. Last year 51% of the children attending were awarded scholarships, and it is hoped that those numbers will continue to increase each year.

"In honor of our clients, again this year through Crothall Cares we have made a significant donation to the Make-A-Wish Foundation in each customer's name. Over the years, I have been personally involved with Make-A-Wish and have been overwhelmed by their mission. It is a special organization and they do remarkable things for young children. Crothall's gift will help bring hope, strength, and joy to courageous children." -Bobby Kutteh
