Make a Difference Winner

As any Patient Transportation associate will tell you, there are certain types of patients that you get to know better than others. Based upon their illness and type of treatment, they may require more service than others. Dialysis patients certainly fall into this category.

Peggy Kegley worked with just such a dialysis patient, Ms. Norma, last May. Transporting the patient out of the hospital, Peggy followed her normal routine of staying with Norma while her husband went to bring the car around. Peggy and Norma chatted amicably about the day, the weather, and how Norma was feeling after her treatment. All appeared normal, but that was about to change.

No sooner had Peggy completed the discharge than Norma's husband came running back into the hospital, urgently seeking help. Norma had begun to hemorrhage and was losing blood at a rapid pace.

Without thinking twice, Peggy fell back on the extensive training provided to her and other Crothall employees. She alerted the staff to the emergency, and worked to stabilize Norma until the clinical staff arrived on the scene. Her quick action and dedication to her patients helped to ensure a positive outcome for this patient.

Peggy sets a great example for all of us to follow. Great job!
